Dr.Anderson José Maraschin | Provenance of marine sediments | Excellence in Research
Geólogo Pesquisador Pleno | PUCRS | Brazil
Anderson José Maraschin is a dedicated geologist specializing in Siliciclastic Sedimentary Petrology and Geochronology. Since 2008, he has been contributing to the field as a research geologist at the Institute of Petroleum and Natural Resources (IPR), Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), focusing on reservoir rocks and hydrocarbon analysis.
Profile
Education 🎓
Anderson graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 1999 with a degree in Geology. He pursued further studies at UFRGS, earning a Master’s degree in Siliciclastic Sedimentary Petrology in 2003, followed by a PhD in 2008. He also completed a Junior Post-doctorate at UFRGS in 2013 and a Senior Postdoctoral position at Norte Fluminense Estadual University in 2017.
Experience 🛠️
Throughout his career, Anderson has conducted petrographic characterization of reservoir and hydrocarbon generating rocks using advanced techniques such as Optical Microscopy, Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopy, and Confocal Fluorescent Microscopy. Since 2020, he has been actively involved in developing unconventional isotopic systems and geochronology applications in Geosciences.
Research Interest 🔬
Anderson’s research interests revolve around the geochronology of sedimentary sequences, focusing on K-Ar and Ar-Ar radiometric methods applied in sandstone-reservoirs within Brazilian sedimentary basins. His work contributes significantly to understanding geological processes crucial for hydrocarbon exploration and development.
Award 🏆
Anderson has made substantial contributions to his field, evidenced by his 14 articles published in international scientific journals and his impactful role as a coordinator of projects in the oil and natural gas sector.
