Her academic journey commenced with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, accompanied by a minor in Psychology, from the American University of Cairo in 1995. She furthered her education with a Master of Science in Development Finance from the University of London, where she achieved First Class Honours. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, she completed the pre-requisite requirements for an MSc in Islamic Finance at the University of Virginia, Affiliate in Cairo, in 2009. Finally, in 2016, she attained her PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. Her doctoral research, titled 'Social Mobility in Egypt: an intergenerational approach,' was supervised by Dr. Tarek A. Moursi.

She assumed the position of Associate Professor of Economics at The British University in Egypt (BUE) in 2022, where she teaches modules such as Economics of Egypt, Economic Globalisation, and International Trade.
